MFE PulsePro

The MFE PulsePro is a rugged, field-ready pulsed eddy current (PEC) system designed for fast and non-intrusive inspections. It requires no removal of insulation, no equipment shutdowns, and no disassembly.

Built for demanding environments, it detects corrosion and wall loss in real time, helping teams maintain asset integrity and keep operations running smoothly.

Trusted across industries, the PulsePro simplifies the evaluation of both ferrous and non-ferrous components, even through thick insulation or cladding.

With intuitive controls and high-resolution data, it gives technicians the insights they need to make safe and accurate decisions quickly.

BENEFITS OF THE MFE PULSEPRO

The PulsePro is a powerful NDT solution designed for non-intrusive corrosion monitoring, making it ideal for industries that require asset integrity assessments without shutdowns or insulation removal.

Non-Intrusive Inspection

The MFE PulsePro allows for accurate wall thickness measurements through insulation, coatings, and marine growth — no need for surface prep or shutdowns. This reduces operational disruption while maintaining safety and compliance.

Cost-Effective Asset Monitoring

By eliminating the need to remove insulation or perform manual inspections, the PulsePro reduces labor costs, scaffolding, and downtime. Its long-range detection capability means fewer inspection points and faster site coverage.

Reliable Corrosion Detection

Using advanced pulsed eddy current technology, the PulsePro identifies internal and external wall loss — even under insulation or corrosion under fireproofing (CUF). This ensures actionable data for better maintenance planning.

Field-Ready and Rugged

Built for real-world conditions, the MFE PulsePro features a rugged, portable design that performs reliably in harsh environments. Whether onshore or offshore, it’s engineered to go where other tools can’t.

Versatile Across Applications

From oil & gas pipelines to petrochemical storage tanks and offshore platforms, the PulsePro is a go-to solution for corrosion monitoring across a wide range of industries and surface types.

What is the MFE PulsePro?

Pulsed eddy current is a non-destructive testing method used to detect corrosion and wall loss in metallic structures — without removing insulation, coatings, or fireproofing.

PEC works by emitting a magnetic pulse into the material. When the pulse is switched off, it induces eddy currents in the conductive surface below. The decay rate of these eddy currents is influenced by the remaining wall thickness of the material. By analyzing this decay, PEC systems can identify areas of reduced thickness, indicating possible corrosion or material degradation.

This method is non-contact, remote, and fast, making it ideal for scanning large areas, high-risk components, or hard-to-reach assets. It’s particularly effective for detecting corrosion under insulation (CUI)—a major challenge in industries where thermal insulation or fireproofing covers critical infrastructure.

The PulsePro system harnesses this technology to provide qualitative wall loss screening, helping inspection teams quickly identify suspect areas without disrupting operations. When paired with advanced accessories, it supports a comprehensive corrosion monitoring strategy.

Uses of the MFE PulsePro

The PulsePro supports critical inspection workflows across oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, and energy sectors, especially where insulation makes corrosion detection challenging. Typical applications include:

Insulated Piping Systems

Detect corrosion or wall thinning on insulated or fireproofed straight runs of process and utility piping — without stripping insulation or interrupting operations.

Pipe Elbows, Tees, and Fittings

Target high-risk areas like elbows, reducers, and other fittings where turbulent flow and geometry changes often lead to corrosion under insulation.

Pressure Vessels, Drums, and Columns

Perform non-invasive screening of pressure vessels and vertical drums for internal wall loss through external insulation or coatings, reducing the need for manual entry or insulation removal.

KEY FEATURES OF THE MFE PULSEPRO

The PulsePro is built for field performance, delivering fast, accurate, and non-intrusive inspections through advanced PEC technology. These features make it a go-to tool for detecting corrosion and wall loss across a range of industrial environments.

PEC Inspection

The PulsePro uses pulsed eddy current technology to detect wall loss and corrosion through insulation, coatings, and fireproofing — without the need for surface prep or shutdowns. It provides qualitative, remote screening to quickly identify areas of concern.

Thermal Imaging Integration

The system includes integrated thermal imaging to support surface mapping and hotspot detection. This feature helps operators target inspections more efficiently and flag areas that may indicate underlying issues.

Automated Data Reporting

The PulsePro comes equipped with built-in software for real-time data capture and automated reporting. Users can review, export, and share inspection data on-site, streamlining workflows and reducing turnaround time.

Extension Rods and On-Probe Display

Using lightweight extension rods, technicians can easily inspect overhead piping, vertical poles, and other elevated or obstructed components from ground level.

The PulsePro’s on-probe display provides real-time wall loss indications, allowing operators to perform scans without carrying the full system or relying on a separate monitor.

Quantify Wall Loss with EMAT Module

The optional EMAT module allows operators to quantify wall loss indications detected by PEC, providing added confidence for critical inspection areas.

The PulsePro performs reliably in high-temperature environments up to 800 °C (1,472 °F), making it ideal for validating corrosion on hot, in-service assets like steam lines and insulated piping — without shutdowns or couplant.

Why Choose the MFE PulsePro?

The MFE PulsePro stands out for its ability to inspect both ferrous and non-ferrous metallic components, making it a versatile solution for facilities with mixed-material infrastructure.

Whether you’re scanning carbon steel or stainless steel, PulsePro delivers reliable qualitative wall loss detection without removing insulation.

Its array probe increases coverage and efficiency by capturing data across a wider area in a single pass — ideal for large surfaces or time-sensitive inspections.

This unique combination of material flexibility and scanning speed helps teams cover more ground with fewer limitations, making PulsePro a smart choice for asset integrity programs that demand adaptability and performance.
